Tucker Eagle on the Importance of Time Management

Sterling Seacrest Pritchard Client Advisor Tucker Eagle shares his insights on fatherhood and its relevance to business.

“Hi, my name is Tucker Eagle and I’m a Client Advisor at Sterling Seacrest Pritchard. You can probably tell from the bags under my eyes that my wife and I just welcomed our first child two weeks ago. Needless to say, my world has been turned upside down, or right side up, whatever you want to call it.

We’re beyond happy and blessed and most importantly I’m humbled. I knew changes were coming but I severely underestimated how much my perspective would shift in both work and life. Right now it’s week two, time doesn’t exist, I’m living in a haze of coffee, diapers, swaddles, it’s not sustainable.

So my wife and I are doing our best to optimize our time and most importantly, cherish these early days with our child. One simple solution we found is setting aside specific tasks that we handle on our own as well as tasks that we tackle together. As cliche as it sounds, I’m realizing this approach applies to work as well.

Some tasks don’t require the full team while others do need collaboration. To be most efficient and foster a positive environment, a team has to work together sharing the load. When everyone contributes, it’s going to build pride in the work, it’s going to strengthen relationships, and it’s going to create a health supportive culture.

But if there are opportunities to carry the load for your teammate whenever they’re having a rough time, a bad day, take those. These acts of selflessness  are oftentimes more important than the project results themselves when it comes to creating a positive atmosphere for everybody to thrive and build a team environment. I’ve also learned that not everything is the end of the world and mistakes are going to happen, but as long as you put forth your best effort, you’ll keep improving.

Really good example. First time I changes my daughter’s diaper, I thought her head was going to explode. She was screaming so much, it took forever, and then I realized I put the diaper on backwards.

Now I’m a pro with Pampers. Sure, she still gets upset every single time, but I’m starting to tie down those in record time and it’s essentially muscle memory at this point. Same holds true with your day-to-day actions and efforts and constant improvements you try to make.

The more you do it, the better you’re going to become. These might seem like small things, but they’ve been a huge perspective shift for me. We’re very lucky.

Savannah seems to have welcomed a bunch of new babies to kick off 2025. Congratulations to all my friends now on this journey with us and everybody who’s been through it before. We are all ears on your advice.

Please share.”
